Convert your Instagram account to a Creator or Business account

To use the Instagram section on your website with VIPsites, Instagram requires your account to be either a Creator or Business account. Personal accounts don’t provide the functionality needed for integration with your website.

How do you know if your account is a Personal, Creator, or Business account? You can check your account type in the Instagram app by navigating to your Profile > Settings > Account. There, you’ll see your current account type, and if you don’t see “Switch to personal account” or “Switch to professional account,” you’re already using the appropriate type.

How do you convert your Instagram account from Personal to Business or Creator? Follow these steps:

1. Open the Instagram app and go to your Profile.
2. Tap the Menu (three lines in the top right corner).
3. Select Settings > Account.
4. Scroll down and tap Switch to Professional Account.
5. Choose either Creator or Business, based on your needs.
6. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup.

What’s the difference between a Creator account and a Business account? Creator accounts are tailored for public figures, content creators, and influencers, offering tools for managing content and audience engagement. Business accounts are best for brands, businesses, and organisations, providing more advanced analytics and options for advertising. Both account types will work for integrating your Instagram feed on your website.

Will converting your account affect your Instagram followers or content? No, converting to a Creator or Business account won’t affect your followers or existing content. Your profile will stay the same, but you’ll gain additional tools to help manage your account.

Can you switch back to a Personal account later? Yes, you can switch back to a Personal account at any time. However, if you do, the Instagram section on your website will no longer function until your account is converted back to Creator or Business.
