If you’re requesting that our technical support team complete a migration of your email data from Google Workspace to a VentraIP service, there are some things you need to do for the migration process to be successful.

Enable IMAP Connections

To enable IMAP in Google Workspace globally, you must log in to the Google Workspace Admin portal, then follow these steps:
  1. Click on Apps.
  2. Click on Google Workspace.
  3. Click on Gmail.
  4. Click on End User Access.
  5. Under Organizations, select the organizational unit you want to manage settings for.
  6. Click POP and IMAP Access.
  7. Uncheck Disable POP and IMAP access for all users.

Allow Less Secure Apps

To allow less secure apps, you must log in to the Google Workspace Admin portal, then follow these steps first:
  1. Click on Security.
  2. Click Less Secure Apps.
  3. Select the setting for less secure apps (Allow users to manage their access to less secure apps).
  4. Click Save.
Once you have done that, you can allow less secure apps from inside your Google Workspace account.

App Password

In order for our migration tool to connect to your email account, we will require an App Password to be generated. This can be done using the following steps:
  1. Log in to your Google Account.
  2. Click on Security on the left-hand side.
  3. Under How you sign in to Google, click on 2-step Verification.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom and click App Passwords.
  5. Enter an App name (e.g., “VIPMigration”) and click on Create.
💡 Note: If you haven’t set up 2-step Verification, you may have to do so in order to create an app password.

Submit an eTicket

Once the app password is generated, please provide the full Email Address and the App Password to us in an eTicket to our technical support team, and we can begin the email migration!
